Great showing for local Livermore teams. - Saturday, June 05, 2010

Congratulations to the Livermore Fusion Crew 95 Girls (U14) team for finishing in second place in the Tracy Orange Bowl on Memorial Day weekend. The girls advanced to the finals through a series of wins in their bracket. In first round play the girls tied MVLA Thunder 1 - 1. Momentum built in the second and third games as Fusion soundly defeated Inter Rage Academy Impact 4 - 1 and Alliance FC Diamonds 3 - 0. In the finals, although the girls were plagued with a shortage of players in the field, they played attractive attacking soccer with moments of great ball movement and wonderful opportunities in the opponent's 18. The team lost in a very physical championship game to Santa Clara Sporting SC.

Additionally, congratulations go out to Livermore Fusion 95 Fury who finished 4th in the same tournament with an outstanding performance and Livermore Fusion 97s who made it to the semi-finals with some spirited play that turned the heads of local competition.

Elite Hurricanes of Livermore take second place at the Sonoma Halloween Classic Tournament - Thursday, November 05, 2009

Congratulations to the Elite Hurricanes of Livermore for taking second place at the Sonoma Halloween Classic Tournament!!!

There were 12 great teams trying to get to the championship game and the Hurricanes made it by playing with a high level of team work in each game they played. Every one of the Hurricanes contributed and played with great intensity. They won the first game 2-1 with Trevor Ross scoring the first goal and then Scott Newby bending one in on a corner kick for the game winner. The second game was also a 2-1 win with Newby getting a goal on a penalty kick then putting another one in the net from thirty yards out. They won the third game 1-0 when Garret Vest blasted a shot that bounced off an opposing player and went in. The Hurricanes defense is always the key to their success and this tournament was no different. Defensive captain Kevin Gillmore played injured but still did an awesome job in every game. Brian Martinez shut down the other side of the field with his great speed. The level of intensity by Harrison Goold and Brandon Brocklesby really intimidated the other teams and was a key factor in every game. Hayden Olsen, Zabrisky Roland, and Connor Mcgee were outstanding at covering the entire field and frustrating the opposition. The consistent play and great passing by Luis Ceja-Martinez, Archie LaBine, Connor Lovoi, and Dominic Mingione contributed to each of the Hurricane's wins. Max Wiggington's fantastic goalie work was critical to the team getting to the championship.

Great job Hurricanes!!

Stacey Walke and Michelle Pereida Setting the Right
Example

LYSL Coaches Stacey Walke and Michelle Pereida were honored as Bay Area Double Goal Coach Award Winners at a Golden State Warriors Game in December by the Positive Coaching Alliance.

A Double-Goal Coach: a) Redefines “Winner,” b) Honors the Game and c) Fills Players’ Emotional Tanks. Double-Goal Coaches want to win (goal #1) but have a second, more important goal – to help players develop positive character traits that will help them be successful in life.

These coaches were nominated by their teams and were assessed on the basis of how closely their coaching actions and programs exemplify the Double-Goal Coach Model.

CONGRATULATIONS STACEY AND MICHELLE.
LYSL IS VERY PROUD OF OUR COACHES.
